5 Tips to Help You Find the Right ERP Vendor-Partner

Enterprise Resource Planning software are no longer something out of the box. The increasing demand has led to rapid burgeoning of ERP vendors in India, but with so many ERP partners available, how would you know who is the right partner for you? Here are some tips to help you find the perfect ERP vendor to make your ERP implementation a success.

  1. Funnel out the options
    Set a budget and find vendors in that domain. Narrow down your choices to 2-3 vendors by conducting interviews and asking them if their ERP solution is the best ‘fit’ for your organization (a good vendor will give you the best explanation of the benefits and drawbacks of the system for an organization of the same size as yours).
  2. Check the Expertise level
    Ask the vendor if they have ever worked with the clients in the same industry or if they have ever serviced an organization of the same size. Every ERP can provide you the basic functions like customer management, accounting etc but, prior experience of the vendor can help him identify your needs properly, eventually adding more to the successful implementation of the software.
  3. Ask for a “Demo” Demo
    Every vendor is prepared to sell his service to you. Preparing a business script and demonstrating the product via PowerPoint slides is the least one will do to make you believe that they understand your needs. Well, that’s a NO-NO. Before falling for the deal, ask for a pilot testing also in your organization.
  4. Check if he sets up as near as possible to your office
    Getting a global vendor as your partner can be a great deal, but having a local vendor as your provider may help in the long run. Imagine, looking for an immediate tech help after service, a local vendor can come at your door in just few minutes instead of taking a plane to fly overseas to help you.
  5. Don’t look for the cheaper option but the best option
    Analyze all the hidden costs as well as the primary cost of the service and compare your funneled choices.  Some vendors may provide you the software at a lower cost but, the after sales services might not be of the expected level. So, get a good inspection done of the likely costs and choose the one with better and longer ERP service.

ERP system serves as the backbone of the planning system of your organization; benefiting the bottom line from improving the employee productivity to automating the overall business processes, ERP does it all. Needing an ERP system which transforms your business for good is not the only requirement but to find the right vendor partner to execute it is the matter of equal concern.
